Any contributions or ideas of where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
VOLUNTEERS
Many will be shocked to find
When the day of judgement nears
That there's a special place in heaven
Set aside for volunteers.
Furnished with big recliners,
Satin couches and footstools,
Where there's no committee chairman,
No eager team that needs a coach,
No bazaar and no bake sale.
There will be nothing to staple,
Not one thing to fold or mail.
Telephone lists will be outlawed,
But a finger snap will bring
Cool drinks and gourmet dinners,
And rare treats fit for a king.
You ask, "Who'll serve these privileged few
And work for all their worth?'
Why, all those reaped the benefits
And not once volunteered on earth.

I''m looking for an appropriate poem to read about tutors who volunteer their time to help in adult education and English As a Second Language.
My suggestion would be to have your students write some. That way they would be "personalized" to fit the people on your staff.

I have a friend who teaches ESL and is also a terrific poet. I'll ask her for suggestions.
I am looking for a poem that stresses the idea of asking PLEASE when trying to get volunteers instead of barking orders for everything.
Could you please help???
