PRESIDENTIAL QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"Literature has been the charm of my life, and, could I have carved out my own fortunes, to literature would my whole life have been devoted."
John Quincy Adams
Born July 11, 1767-Died February 23, 2022
6th President, 1825-1829 (Democratic-Republican)
A Democratic-Republican....what a concept...perhaps if we had some around today, the country wouldn't be so out of tune.

Sadly, we'd still have those Whigs to put up with.

Yes those Whigs are a problem. Course they pay a good share of the taxes even now. John Quincey was an ancestor. But from what I have been able to gather he was more of a Prig than a Whig.
Oliver Wendell Holmes nicked one of his from JQA.

Hey, he predicted the California election! (True, we spell it as Governator, but spellings have changed over the last hundred or so years)
I'm very sure I should not care
To fill our Gubernator's chair.
