Dr. Seuss's 100th birthday

In honor of Dr. Seuss's 100th birthday, ABEbooks is inviting people to write "an original, Dr. Seuss-style poem about reading or literature."

Begging the question of whether this is an appropriate HONOR ... it does sound like something eMule-goers might enjoy -- and the prize is credit for buying books, so that's nice.

(I will not do it -- no, not yet! I would not do it on a bet!)

Marian-NYC:

Thanks for the link. I went there and entered the poem below. Have any of you other e-mulers entered?

Lucinda, the Library Lady turned red,
"There's something important that's missing," she said.
"I've a new book for Flo and a new book for Joe,
But I'm sorry, I don't have a new book for Moe."

"No problem," said Moe, "new books I'm not needing,
There's tons of old books I still enjoy reading.
I read them from front page to back page and, then,
I start on the last page and read them again."

Joseph, that's great!

I thought I might write something, but then my nephew found out that he's dangerously allergic to EGGS (that's why his asthma has been so bad lately) and I wrote a poem about egg-less food instead, and that took all my Seuss-ish energy. It ends:

There are no eggs in oatmeal,
and there are no eggs in lamb,
and that's good news 'cause, starting now,
there are no eggs in Sam.

NOT appropriate for the contest, but it went over well at Sam's house.

It comes much too easy
so it would be sleazy
to do it for profits or prizes or fame

the fat in my hat is
dispensed to you gratis
as long as you try to remember my name

so wiggle and jiggle and muggle and juggle and chortle and snicker and giggly-woo
its extemporaneous product of braineous and it is written in honor of YOU !
