Nigel Rees is looking for "text of poem ‘Alphonso’s Dream’ by Anthony Roberts containing the lines, ‘A stealthy wind was sighing / And a twittering he heard.’ "
I'm thinking it might be Alfonso with an "f" rather than Alphonso.
Any clues?
Anthony Roberts seems to be a translator? Or is that another anthony roberts. If not, did he write the poem or dit he translate it?
No other hints so far...
Good questions. I don't know. That's probably why it's proving hard to find.
I was not completely correct:
seems to be a writer too. I think there are more people walking the internet carrying that name. Will prove very hard to find I'm afraid.
Are you still looking. If so I have a copy of the book.
Which book? Do you mean you have the book with the poem in it?
Isabelle -- thanks for offering!
Looks like Nigel found it ... I'll check with him to be certain, and post again.
Isabelle --
YES, PLEASE! Nigel is still in search of the poem.
We would love to have the full title / author / publisher of the book, and (if it isn't too long) the text of the poem.
THANK YOU!
Marian
What I have is a book of the poem, yes. It's an illustrated limited edition ...
HAPPY ENDING!
Nigel (Rees, the quotation hunter) is going to put Isabelle in touch with the person who was so desperately seeking ALPHONSO'S DREAM, and let them work out a borrowing or purchasing of the book.
Hurray!
I posted this query more than a year ago, because I figured why not. And look how nicely it worked out!
