Heaven knows I'm stuck on this poem. I've been working on it for three days now and still can't come up with a good paper. "Strange fits of passion Have I known" is written by Willams Woodsworth. Please someone should help me out and summarize it. I'll be more than greatful
There was some discussion of this last April. See if these answers give you any help. <[www.emule.com] />
For some ideas, try deciding- is he really asleep? is she really dead? who is he talking to? (For another- is Lucy real or imaginary?)

"Strange Fits of Passion Have I Known"
by William Wordsworth
Strange fits of passion have I known:
And I will dare to tell,
But in the lover's ear alone,
What once to me befell.
When she I loved looked every day
Fresh as a rose in June,
I to her cottage bent my way,
Beneath an evening-moon.
Upon the moon I fixed my eye,
All over the wide lea;
With quickening pace my horse drew nigh
Those paths so dear to me.
And now we reached the orchard-plot;
And, as we climbed the hill,
The sinking moon to Lucy's cot
Came near, and nearer still.
In one of those sweet dreams I slept,
Kind Nature's gentlest boon!
And all the while my eye I kept
On the descending moon.
My horse moved on; hoof after hoof
He raised, and never stopped:
When down behind the cottage roof,
At once, the bright moon dropped.
What fond and wayward thoughts will slide
Into a Lover's head!
"O mercy!" to myself I cried,
"If Lucy should be dead!"
It's worth looking at the other Lucy poems too for a context: most famous is "A slumber did my spirits seal".
could Wordsworth be taalking about poetic vision or what some call inspiration? The poet being the lover.
But in the lover's ear alone,
What once to me befell.
What fond and wayward thoughts will slide
Into a Lover's head!
hi, im ahaving trouble answering some wuestions dealing with strange fits of passion, she dwelt among the untrodden ways, ans a slumber did y sporit seal, can anyone help?
what exactly is the speaker's strange fit os passion?
What is the role of the moon?
how would the first two lines of a slumber did..... be paraprased?
I will do that if you tell me who Lucy was.
