Show me your son's friends...

"Show me your son's friends, and I will tell you the kind of man he will become".

A dear friend of mine remembers this "line from a poem" -- I think it might be from something other than a poem -- and wants to track down the source.

Can anyone help?

I can only offer the proverb;

A man is known by the friends/company he keeps.

Dear Henryp,

Yes... it reminds me also of "Give me the child until he is seven years old, and I will give you the man."

(Notoriously unhelpful in girl's school teaching.)
