Can anyone tell me if the Robert Nathan who wrote the poem 'Dunkirk' is the same Robert (Gunthal) Nathan who was a Hollywood screenplay writer, composer and novelist, most popular in the 1940s? My poetry group has been studying the poem and can't find out anything about the author, and though RGN's online bio mentions he was a poet, there is no information about what poems he wrote.
Try [www.dailycelebration.com] It states that he was a novelist, poet, and screenwriter.
Wikipedia gives the following bio for the actor which includes a listing of the poem as his work.

Thanks very much Peter and KD61 - it's all too easy to make wrong attributions!
