Questions continue to pop-up from time to time regarding copyright and how to go about posting content to these forums while remaining "legal". Several postings I have seen regarding the topic were less than enlightening. To that end, I have provided a link to a famous comic book style publication from the Duke University Law School.

Tales from the Public Domain: BOUND BY LAW?

The comic is available free and provides a historical context on which to trace through copyright and fair use of trademark/copyrighted items. Although the cartoon focuses upon video/movie production, the concepts are informative and the format is friendly enough that anyone can follow.

Best,

Aaron

Hmm I'll post these links. Bare in mind I believe copyright would fall into place here..Now I'm not sure if you are worried about copyright because your posting famous poet works are because your posting your own and wondering about your rights. Either way here is some other links that may assist you.

The legal principal of "fair use" is an exception to copyrighted ownership/control typically, as one example, covering news coverage (e.g. inclusion of copyrighted material in a news story) -- First Amendment basics.

There is also an exception for educational use, less well defined in my mind, as we've all seen lots of photocopies of copyrighted writings of every ilk in classes.

Phorum5 seems to be a genuine and good faith forum for students collaborating in the best tradition of academic collegiality to reach, and teach, deeper understanding about some difficult, abstract realities of language, of expression of shared culture. There would seem to be little here objectionable to any reasonable examiner.

Has there been an actual warning to Phorum5 about this issue, or is this cautionary posting done in the spirit prophylactic prudence?
