Certainly I've seen more than the typical amount of quotes and references in recent months, and prior to that in the various "graphic novels"

I'll attempt to track them down for anyone interested.

BTW, JUSTICE, which is mentioned in your link, is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, if only for the art alone. Issues 1-4 (of a total 12) are currently available

Johnny, as you probably guessed I was referring to this little ditty within the sales pitch of that website:

Comic Book Day by Patrick Drury

Comic book day, Comic book day Wednesday is Comic book day
It's the day new books arrive It makes me glad to be alive
One day a week, I'm a nerd But Thursday I'm back above the heard
I drive to town on my lunch break cause if I miss an issue, my heart will break
So that's my curse, my secret shame But at least I'm not a Trekkie, god they're lame!
Comic book day, Comic book day Every Wednesday is Comic book daaaayyyyy...

seems to have better examples....the Art Spiegelman mentioned is the creator of MAUS, a stark and powerful depiction of the Jewish persecution during WW2, with the Jews as mice, the Germans as cats, Poles as pigs etc.

And this from Green Lantern:<br />

In brightest day, in blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!
(Alfred Bester)

Rot Lop Fan, a Green Lantern whose species lacks sight, and thus has no concepts of brightness, darkness, day, night, color, or lanterns has this one:

In loudest din or hush profound
My ears hear evil's slightest sound
Let those who toll out evil's knell
Beware my power, the F-Sharp Bell!

In Duck Dodgers, Daffy Duck temporarily becomes a Green Lantern after accidentally picking up Hal Jordan's laundry. In the first part of the episode he forgets the real quote and makes up his own version, which goes:

In blackest day or brightest night
Watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda-e-yadda
Erm...superstitious and cowardly lot
With liberty and justice for all!

(excerpted from Wikipedia)

If I can share just ONE bit of comedic poetry with my fellow e-mulers, let it be the name "Spike Milligan".

On the Ning Nang Nong
--Spike Milligan

On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!
