Anne Sexton's Cinderella

I am writing a paper comparing Anne Sexton's "Cinderella" (which is one of my favorite of Sexton's) to some original (as original as the Brothers Grimm and some other versions) of the fairy tale itself. Any thing in particular you think I should include in this 400-600 word paper?

Here's a link to the poem:

You might want to compare it to this one by Plath:

I love Plath and never have read that one before. Is the ticking her biological clock?

In Terry Pratchett's WITCHES ABROAD, a witch is forcing people into stories, including 'Emberella,' who doesn't want to go to the ball and marry the prince, but wants to get out and have a life.

Sexton seems to be saying this also- that this story has no room for growth- that once you're living 'happily ever after,' you're not really living. Reminds me also of Sondheim's play INTO THE WOODS, where we find out what really happens in happily ever after.

Probably something to be dug out of the stepsisters and the 'blood will tell' also. Of course, you have to wonder what kind of idiot the prince is that he doesn't notice.

Fun assignment- what class is this for? I'm jealous, since my class this quarter is Managerial Accounting. Balance sheets are an entirely different kind of fairy tale.

There's probably more creative writing being done by accountants

This is for L101--Western World Masterpieces I. We are currently reading the Odyssey. Sorry to hear about the Managerial Accounting class.
