Attention: Rudy and/or Aaron LOGGING ON TO E-MULE

Several members, including Peter and Lisa's friend Mike have had problems trying to log on. Is there anything that can be done about that?

Thanks so much Les for posting this and for helping out.
I really appreciate it.

Aaron---maybe you never received my private message.
If not, could you write me and let me know so that I can re-write you
and explain what keeps happening. Maybe something is wrong with the website
and how it is functioning. My friend cleared all cookies etc and has tried many approaches but nothing has worked. The message keeps coming back
that "no such email address exists" when it indeed does.

Thanks Aaron, in advance for any help you can offer.

Lisa

I've been having a lot of lag and getting the below message a lot lately... I sometimes have to wait over a minute for the forum to refresh. I generally only use the "User Sumbitted Poetry" board... this board seems to move along fine.

Proxy Error

Interesting notes. For my part, I have noticed no differences at all though.

I've noticed that it loads slower, especially late evenings.

It is equally bad at home or work, so clearly not the computer itself

Yeah... everything has been loading really slow... my browser often times out. It's been getting progressively worse over the last few days. I'm on the West coast of the United states, it could be a router between my computer and the server, but one would think it would get fixed.

Here is the traceroute from my computer. Seems fairly quick, with no hop longer than some 200 milliseconds:

Hugh, try logging in after 9 pm e-mule time and see if you have the same results.

My post was unclear, sorry. I meant that if the traceroute is good, then the problems must lie with the software on the site, or the server itself.

Unfortunately, Hugh, the server is behaving in a way that is very similar to what it was before its ultimate crash back in July.

Les

I hope files and links have been backed up by the e-mule technical staff.

What, you are suggesting they still read the boards?

My page loading was a lot slower this morning, so I fired up Mozilla to test that program out, but no noticeable differences.

I couldn't get the forum to load either christmas eve or christmas day. Today it is taking upwards of a minute for each page to load.

Clearly, these folks are no longer reading the board. Does anyone have an e-mail address? I did not make any notes on them. Desi maybe? Ferris?

Well, Hugh, since my message was deleted by Rudy, I'm assuming he does read these things. Here's a message left by Bruce, I'm sure he won't mind my posting it here:

"This time I don't think that it is that easy. The problem seems to be with the email/password feature, so you say, I can't remember my password, please email it to my registered address and... nothing happens. Hence the JP limbo. I suspect that this would also apply to people trying to sign up as well."

I am still around but have no control to do anything. Rudy still retains 100% control over the site and he hasn't done much. We are still active/around. I continue to develop the royalarchive.com domain as well as jamesmcavoy.com among others. Until Rudy gives in and provides me with access I don't have any way to really do anything on poetry beyond random postings.

Anyone interested is welcome to show up at Rudy's house here in the suburbs of Atlanta and beat down his door. :)

Best,

Aaron

My sisters live down there so I could always send them over to Rudy's to shake him up a little. I've been down there a time or two myself. Spent a memorable evening at Fuzzy's Place on N. Druid Hills Rd. once.

Vic recently stated on the USP that he could not log in when he filled in the e-mail address, but he was able to log back on if he let that space blank. Has anyone else tried this? Does it work?

I think it's more than a few. I haven't been able to use any of my previously valid logins for more than a year, and like everyone else, can't create a new one.

Rudy, why must we now double click for the forum software to recognize that we are logged in? Many posters, including myself have lost a post due to this annoying glitch.

It also logs you off without notice after 'x' amount of time. For example, I failed to log off yesterday, and noticed that I appeared to still be logged on this morning (since the Log Out link appeared on the Goto bar). When posting this message, I was forced to log on again, and the message was lost. Luckily, I had Copied it to memory and was able to Paste it again, so no real harm done.

Must be a glitch in the software itself and will have to be coped with I suspect.

I just "log out" then "log in"

regardless of what my apparent status seems to be

it's easier

Interesting stuff on the Phorum pages, but a Search did not turn up the issues here, unless I missed them (not unusual, since I lack patience). I searched for automatic timeout(s), log out, and the like.

Les, Rudy has not been able to create this issue. He created an account and it worked fine for him. He viewed the site, logged out, logged in, posted a couple test messages, etc. I suspect it has to do with cookies and Rudy not setting up the server correctly so it becomes confused but I haven't had time to test.

Aaron, I think Rudy hit the nail on the head with the browser question:

I generally use my Netscape browser on my computer, my AOL and IE browsers do not seem to require the double click.
