Poetry competion by new publisher.

An on-line friend with too many passwords to remember has asked for this to be spread to anyone who may be interested:-

"plugging new publisher
- nothing to do with me, except I know the two women who started it. It's a new small press called Leaf Books [www.leafbooks.co.uk], running at present on very little money (though they are supported by their local uni) but high ambitions. They are aiming, both in format and price, to target people who might not normally buy books, and to sell in non-book outlets. They are up for submissions of both poems and prose; they can't pay anyone much (£50 max, I heard) but for someone new and looking for an opening they'd be a respectable place to appear; they'll do critiques, and are, IMO, well qualified to do so, and they're currently running a poetry competition. They specified "poems about love", for obvious commercial reasons (with any luck they can bring out an anthology around Valentine's). But of course the downside is that they've, so far, got a bunch of generally lousy entries with pink kittens on the envelopes....

There is dosh in this, and the closing date isn't until 15 Dec; why not have a go? There's an entry fee, as in any reputable poetry comp, but it's quite low. The page with the comp info is here [www.leafbooks.co.uk], but check out the rest while you're there."

What you do about it is up to you, but I've posted for her.

They do suggest you e mail them for how to enter from foreign places. I doubt they discriminate against any hard currency and at least it won't be even whackier European Euros.

Two good categories, let's see what we can do. Oh, payment. Yeah, do you take Petro Dollars?

I have a lot of Federons from this game Solarquest, which was pretty good, like Monopoly except you bought and sold and landed on Moons of Planets.
