recommendation! MP3Search.ru is a great way to get music for ten cents per song. Robert Rich has some ambient albums that are excellent. i especially like them when writing parts of a story. A Troubled Resting Place, if these words do it justice, is dark, deep, mysterious. like waking to the gold of hidden treasure by torch-light deep under a pyramid. on Numena, The Other Side of Twilight is a twenty-one minute song i love. Brian Eno's ambient albums are great, too.
i have to mention Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg while i'm here. it gave me a leg up more than a few times when it came to writers-block. it teaches rule-subtraction and flows easily with Natalie's conversational voice. writing practice is the main tool, where you say everything you can about the thing you are writing, or trying to write. thus, you are exploring it for yourself through the act of writing, instead of holding back words in fear. just a great book. buy it on Amazon used for a few bucks.
