how does one reply to posts (questions - without popping the post back up to the top of the thread?)

If I understand correctly, "reply" goes to private mail and "new topic" goes to the thread.
I guess I will find out now.

Marie, when you write in a blank box and press "post" at the bottom, your post will be placed at the top of the list. This is because it is the "latest" post, according to the clock.

If you wish to respond to someone, you may do this by editing a previous post on the same thread. If you have not posted on that particular thread, your new post will "bump" the thread to the top of the list.

I guess not , Marie. both go on the thread. Click on Private messages and choose the person you want to message and then write.
